High School Band Director

Job Title: High School Band Director
Location: Commerce High School- Commerce, Georgia


Job Overview

Commerce High School is seeking a passionate and experienced Band Director/Music Teacher to lead our high school band for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of running a complete music program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions to prepare the program for competitions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students, fostering personal growth and music development.
  • Monitor the academic progress of students.
  • Coordinate with the school administration and athletic department to schedule practices, contests, and travel arrangements.
  • Promote a positive team environment and enforce discipline and conduct policies.
  • Communicate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensure safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Georgia Certification in MUSIC (P-12) [FLD767]
  • Proven training and experience to promote proficiency in the operations of an organized, modern, updated classroom, as well as the overall music department.
  • Experience in coordinating the band booster club and other fundraisers for the band. This duty also entails managing the band budget each year.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Driven to have a top rated band in the state of Georgia through the development of all stages of musicians (6th -12th grade)
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying skill levels.
