High School Principal
RETIREMENT: Teacher Retirement System of Georgia
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Month
REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Designee
Position Summary
Commerce City Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the Commerce High School Principal position for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate serves as a visionary instructional leader with a proven record of enhancing student achievement, fostering a safe and collaborative school culture, supporting staff, and ensuring effective school operations aligned with district goals.
Preferred Qualifications
Tier II GaPSC Leadership Certificate.
Doctor of Education (EdD) preferred, but not required.
Experience in instructional leadership roles or public school administration.
Proven ability to support instruction, use data to increase student achievement, and design staff development to achieve goals.
Proven track record of success at the high school level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
Serve as the instructional leader, ensuring high-quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Use data to improve student outcomes in academics, attendance, and behavior.
Support and evaluate teachers and staff through coaching and professional learning.
Oversee school improvement plans and monitor progress.
School Culture and Climate
Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
Effectively use Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to create a collaborative culture focused on high expectations for teaching and learning for all students.
Promote positive behavior and student engagement in academics and extracurriculars.
Operations and Management
Manage daily school operations, schedules, and resources.
Ensure compliance with district policies and state regulations.
Oversee the school budget and facilities.
Maintain safety procedures and emergency preparedness.
Staff Leadership and Development
Recruit, hire, retain, and support staff.
Conduct evaluations and promote a mindset of continuous improvement.
Build leadership capacity among all staff.
Family and Community Engagement
Build partnerships with families and community organizations.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
Represent the school positively in the community.
